What is Perilla Seeds Powder?
Perilla seeds powder contain gamma-tocopherol, which is good for the prevention of skin aging and thus skin care. They also break down fat, thus providing weight loss effect. Moreover, they are excellent in relieving constipation and preventing adult diseases such as high blood pressure and arteriosclerosis.
In Korean cuisine, kkaennip or perilla leaves are widely used as a herb and a vegetable. Kkaennip can be used fresh as a ssam vegetable, fresh or blanched as a namul vegetable, or pickled in soy sauce or soybean paste to make jangajji (pickle) or kimchi.
Deulkkae, the perilla seeds, are either toasted and ground into powder called deulkkae-garu or toasted and pressed to make perilla oil. Toasted deulkkae powder is used as a spice and a condiment for guk (soup), namul (seasoned vegetable dishes), guksu (noodle dishes), kimchi, and eomuk (fishcake). It is also used as gomul (coating or topping) for desserts: Yeot and several tteok (rice cake) varieties can be coated with toasted perilla powder. Perilla oil made from toasted perilla seeds powder is used as a cooking oil and as a condiment.
In Korean-style western food, perilla leaves are sometimes used to substitute basil, and the seed powder and oil is used in salad dressings as well as in dipping sauces. A Michelin-starred restaurant in Seoul serves nutty vanilla ice cream whose secret ingredient is perilla oil.

Perilla is an herb. The leaf and seed are used to make medicine. Perilla is used for treating asthma. It is also used for nausea, sunstroke, inducing sweating, and to reduce muscle spasms.
These essential fatty acids have been associated with benefits in a wide range of inflammatory conditions, heart diseases, colitis/Crohn's disease, asthma, allergies, , etc. Perilla is also used for nausea, sunstroke, to induce sweating and as an antispasmodic.
1) Cholesterol
In a study with 86 people with high cholesterol, those supplemented with perilla oil had lower levels of total cholesterol, LDL, oxidized LDL, apolipoprotein B activity, and lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (a marker for heart disease) activity
2) Heart Disease
No studies have yet determined whether there is a direct link between perilla and heart disease; only alpha-linoleic acid (abundant in perilla oil) has been studied.
3) Asthma
In a clinical trial of 14 people, those who consumed perilla oil had improved lung function. They also had decreased levels of the inflammatory compounds leukotriene B4 and C4
4) Osteoporosis
In a study of elderly adults, high consumption of alpha-linolenic acid was correlated with a reduced risk of hip fracture over the course of 16 years
5) Cognitive Function
Rats fed perilla oil performed better in a maze test than rats fed corn oil. Those that consumed perilla oil had changes in the protein levels in the brain
6) Weight Management
In a rat study, animals were fed a diet of perilla oil, safflower oil, olive oil, or beef fat. Rats fed a diet with perilla oil had less fat and lower cholesterol than the other groups
7) Atherosclerosis
While not as effective as Lovastatin (a cholesterol medication), perilla oil also reduced arterial plaque coverage by 60% in rabbits
8) Liver Function
A high fat/high cholesterol diet with perilla oil helped reduce inflammation and fibrosis in the liver in rats. Liver fibrosis leads to the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
9) Blood Clots
In rabbits, perilla oil reduced platelet clumping (blood clots). High doses of perilla oil were comparable to aspirin in preventing clotting
10) Colitis
In a rat model of Crohn’s disease, a diet with perilla oil reduced the severity of the ulcers and lowered levels of an inflammatory compound, plasma leukotriene B4
11) Inflammation
In a cell study, when activated white blood cells were exposed to perilla extracts, they migrated less and produced fewer reactive oxygen species
12) Activity
Perilla oil may be beneficial for fighting bacterial infections. When grown in the presence of perilla oil, antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains secreted fewer toxins. This effect was most pronounced for enterotoxins that harm the gut and cause food poisoning

2. Applied in pharmaceutical field, it can be made into capsules has lipid-lowering effect;
